Postal strike could hit businesses

Anyone posting a letter from today is should be aware that it is unlikely to be delivered until Thursday or Friday of next week! With up to 130,000 postal workers set to walk out today, serious disruption are going to be expected.

The strike which is over pay, pensions and working conditions, will start at lunchtime today and stop at the same time on Saturday. But a second walkout is planned for Monday as well; this will start at 3.00 am and go on until the same time on Wednesday.

But that is not all, even when those strikes have past, the Communication Workers Union have further strikes planned. These will be on a rolling basis, starting on the 15th October, where there will be a strike every week until the matter has been settled.

It is possible that this action could affect many businesses that rely on the postal service to deliver their goods to customers.
