UK business could do better on Human Rights

The world leader in advocating human rights Amnesty International is calling on UK Business leaders to do more on the subject of human rights for workers in China.

This is a timely issue as the lead up to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will not only bring great publicity for China, but also there will be a global platform for organisations to use, in order to get their own messages across.

Businesses in the UK need to be very aware of the partners that they have in China, already there are claims that certain well-known high street names are using sweatshops to produce their goods. This kind of exposure is bound to grow over the next few months as more and more people start to visit China.

China needs to use the games as stepping stone to launch their country as a world leader, but too many stories like that is not going help them or businesses involved in China who are using sweatshop labour.
