John Redwood plans red tape cut

The Conservative ultra right winger, John Redwood is to propose a cut in business red tape which is expected to save businesses around £14 billion.

This plan has not been adopted by David Cameron or the Conservative party itself. Yet as they are still trailing in the opinion polls they need to do something, but is this going back to the old Conservative ways?

In order to make such savings there would be a need to revoke some the changes made under the European Union directives, these would effect: The working week, data protection, health and safety, and the regulations placed on the Financial services industry.

In short this would more or less reverse a lot of the work that has been done over the past ten years. But if this was put into the conservative manifesto, it would clearly separate the two main parties. But would this make the conservatives electable? Well they were the party of business, and they need to get business behind them in order to challenge Labour.
