Disasters prompt innovation

Its normal for people to adapt to changing circumstances, but in some cases you get that one person who looks at a disaster and comes up with something that can help prevent it happening again.

One such person is Scott Simon, who comes from Worcestershire, his community was just one area that suffered from the serious flooding a few weeks ago. But within a few weeks he had come up with a great idea that could prevent such a disaster from getting to the extent that it did in the future.

His idea is simple, a self inflating sandbag, it only weighs one pound, which is great for storage purposes, and yet it as it becomes wet it swells up to a massive 34 pounds, which will slow down the flood waters.

News of this idea has spread around so much, that he has been able to sell 100,000 units, not bad for an idea that only come about a few weeks ago.
