Remember Knol
When Google announced that Knol was going to be the next and best wiki type venture on the net, there were some ripples of fear appearing, yet that was 2007 and when it would not be until July 2008 when Knol finally appeared.
It promised to be better than other knowledge communities for both the reader and writer, yet the one thing that Knol looks like it is going to be more famous for is for not being famous at all.
Maybe it is because the writers have the opportunity to earn from their work, that people are just flooding the community with content that is not up to acceptable standards.
There are around a hundred thousand pieces of work on Knol and despite having a presence on Google search; these pieces of work very rarely make it to the first page.
Knol are planning some changes, but whether this going to be another Google failure or if they are able to turn this around is anyone’s guess.
