Advertising banned at teatime in France

For the time ever in France, TV viewers will be able to watch the box in the early evening without the interruption of any adverts at all, this is because the French government have banned TV advertising on the state owned channels during these prime times.

These new rules mean that advertising will be banned during prime times and will be completely banned from the screens of French state television in 2011.

Clearly, this is going to leave huge gap in funding, this is going to have to be met by more tax on the advertising that will still be appearing on private TV stations. It is believed that this move will enable state TV to produce better programmes.
