Virgin have a deal with Yahoo

A deal has been struck between Virgin Mobil and Yahoo; this will see the Yahoo search engine pre-installed for all Virgin Mobiles four million customers throughout the UK.

This is a plan that could see Yahoo attempting to get ahead of Google in this very different but important mobile search sector. Especially as Google have dominated the computer based search sector from a very long time and do not look like giving it up very soon.

With Yahoo search, being pre-installed this gives them a good starting point from which that can grow, however it will be down to the performance of Yahoo and Virgin Mobile that will be the true test.

The deal marks the seventieth mobile partnership that Yahoo have developed in this market, giving them access to around 850 million mobile users.
