Wave energy takes to the sea

The world first viable wave powered energy plant went into action earlier this week. This took place off the coast of northern Portugal where it has produced enough power to supply fifteen hundred homes.

This small plant has only come about because of the countries rules that power companies need to invest into green power.

Nevertheless, there are plans to bring this technology to the UK, probably off the coasts of Scotland where there power of the sea could be soon providing power for homes in the UK.

This sort of power does not come cheap though the Portuguese development cost around £5 million, whereas larger plants that are more complex are going to cost more to build and maintain.
