The business of data
Information has always been a source of power, which is probably why governments used to like to keep files. Not the good thing about files is that it is virtually impossible to lose the whole lot. However, as technology continues to advance data becomes more portable.
The problem now is that portable storage is now so complex that the life history of the entire population of the UK can be stored on a single DVD, and eventually flash drives will have the capacity to hold the same volume of data.
But the problem this creates is, that in six months from November 07 to April 08 there has been 160 serious data lose incidents and since April 08 there have been a further 66 serious incidents of data lose.
Hence, the problem, making data easier to transfer creates some serious security issues, which clearly are not being taken seriously.
