Bloggers facing lawsuits

Blogging started around 2004, but then it was mainly a way of ordinary non technically minded people who wanted a piece of the web for themselves to express what they were feeling at that time.

But now blogging has taken on many different forms, these range from pro-bloggers to people who like to just leave the odd comment or two on various blogging communities. However, in a change of direction there is an increase throughout the blogsphere where postings and even comments are leading to legal action.

In the US there have been nearly 160 court cases since blogging became popular, which has resulted in £9 million worth of penalties being paid out. But worse than that, there have been sixty four bloggers arrested by governments for criticising or human rights issues.

There are calls for rules and regulations on blogging, but surely, that is totally against the whole essence of blogging in the first place.
