A Milestone for McDonalds

Out of all the products that McDonalds sell, the Big Mac has to be the most famous and possibly even the most popular burger that they sell. Yet the Big Mac was never on the original menu, because as with many burger bars during the late fifties they just sold burgers.

But one franchise owner James “MJ” Delligatti believed that while his customers where families, the parents were not always sharing the meal with their kids. This is where a more adult orientated burger was needed.

His plans were given the go ahead by McD’s HQ and the Big Mac was created including the special sauce which is still a secret. The Big Mac became a full time member of the McDonalds menu in 1968 and has not looked back since.
