80% of bandwidth used by 10% of users

For long time we were told and believed that the majority of the bandwidth was being sucked up by people who selfishly engaged in peer to peer usage, but recent evidence proves that this may not be case.

As with many resources the internet has changed over the years and has now evolved into an entertainment hub. People from all around the world can now watch TV from any country whenever they wish.

But the same old percentages apply, 10% of all internet subscribers use 80% of the available bandwidth, but there is a tiny 0.5% of that 10% who are actually sucking up 40% of the bandwidth. Then there is the 80% of normal users, while another 10% are the one engaged in P2P.

The main culprit for the huge amount of bandwidth being used up, are those people who regularly download streaming video from sites like Youtube.
