Engadget told not to use T Mobiles colours

Anyone who checks out new technology will know of the Engadget sites; these have been around for sometime and have built up quite a reputation. Maybe they have built up too much of a reputation for some people as they have been given a letter from the mobile phone company T Mobile.

Deutsche Telekom the German owners of T Mobile handed the letter to Engadget. The letter was from the Mobile Phone Company’s legal dept and requested that they quickly stop using the colour magenta on the Engadget Mobile header, the word Mobile is slightly similar to the colour of the T in T Mobile, and the font is not similar at all.

Is this corporate law going too far or just a company bullying another? Whatever the case it does not work out well for anyone, it just makes the whole thing petty after all, a colour cannot really be used as a trade mark unless it forms part of the logo or name. Simply a letter being or word in a font or colour cannot result in legal action, can it?
