The business of junk mail

Virtually everyone connected to the internet receives a little bit of junk mail, this is different to spam as these messages are sent to you because you have at some stage subscribed to the company’s list, this authorises them to send you adverts and offers.

Sometimes when you have had enough of them all you need to do is scroll down to the bottom of the page and unsubscribe from the list and that would normally be that, no more offers or introductions to new services from them, or so you think.

For people who use Comcast in the States its slightly different, if you are receiving their junk in your inbox, you can of course unsubscribe or give them a call saying you longer wish to receive any of their messages, which they will do of course, but for the privilege they will charge you $1.99 (£1) which is not bad business if enough customers do this.
