Cloned cows go on sale

It may sound a bit like science fiction, but the fact the first cloned cows are about to go on sale in the UK is definitely fact.

The first calves born to a cloned cow in the UK will be travelling to the live stock auction in Bristol this week, this is said to be a new era of food technology for this country. The offspring are expected to be bought by specialist breeders who will go on to create the next generation of cows which will eventually be found on the shelves of the super markets.

The cattle is far too expensive for meat at the moment, but it is anticipated that this new breed is coming at the right time, because there will come a time when food like this is going to be in short supply and a cow that is resistant to certain illnesses and foodstuffs will really come into their own.
