Doritos in a mess

The makers of the famous brand of snack Doritos, has found themselves is some serious trouble with the Muslim community. Walkers Crisps, has been criticised by Muslims leaders over the snack because it contains alcohol.

It may only be a trace amount of alcohol but never the less this product has not been listed on the Walkers Alcohol Free List, the two products that are of concern are the Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli and the Doritos Chilli Heat Wave brands.

But even with a trace amount of alcohol the makers should make it clear on the packaging that this is case, which will enable the customer to decide for themselves. Walkers say that they do not add alcohol to any of the products, but there can a trace amount of Ethyl Alcohol found in some of the additives like flavourings, these are found in virtually all processed foods.

However this has popped before and the Muslim leaders have cleared Ethyl Alcohol as being permissible in the Muslim diet, because of the low levels and that it has no effect on the taste of the food.
