NY Times cuts news jobs

The New York Times has resisted the trend throughout the industry to introduce cutbacks in their newsroom, however the financial problems have persisted leaving the business no other choice than to bow to the financial pressures of the business and have been forced to cut around a hundred jobs this year.

However the plan is not to completely cut one hundred jobs, there is a little scope there like not filling positions that are currently vacant and by offering buyouts etc, but this sort of practice is defiantly not going to find the one hundred jobs as required, so it is almost inevitable that there will be layoffs.

But having said all of that the NY Times does have the highest amount of staff in the US at around 1,332, most of the US newspapers have no more than 900 on the company books.
