Over 12,000 wind farms needed

There is no doubt that wind power is an exceptional way of producing electricity, so much so that it would appear the European Commission in Brussels has decided that we need more, in fact around 12,500 more wind farms!

Now this is going to cause problems for the UK as at the moment only five per cent of the nations power comes from wind, we would be looking to increase this to forty per cent by 2020. This would mean increasing the offshore wind farms from a 150 to 7,500 and the current 2,000 land based wind farms to around 5,000.

But at the moment there are problems getting wind farms both off shore and inland, people just don’t want them in their line of sight, so in order to obey the EU directive there is going to have to be some major planning changes which are going to upset a great deal of people.
