Microsoft goes for FAST

Microsoft is making a move on the search engine FAST (Fast search and Transfer) it is said that the figures being put around are something I the region of $1.2 billion in cash, the deal will make things in the enterprise search industry which has been dominated by FAST, but there are other players too, like Autonomy and Vivisimo.

The next big player to make a move into this sector will no doubt be Google, as they have already made some tentative footsteps but will also need to make a decision on which business they will takeover in order for them to get a major foothold.

The obvious place for this enterprise search will be within the already established Microsoft Office Share Point Server, for Google and the others who may be interested in this sector, it may be slightly more complicated, but never the less, and it will be done.
