Mini Nukes could power towns
In this day an age, you would have thought that the idea of a mini nuclear reactor that could be built, encased in a block of concrete, transported to the site, where it will be buried in the ground and will be able to provided enough power for a 25,000 homes for at least five years, would not be a great idea, but this is not science fiction.
This is the idea of Hyperion who have developed such a plant for the Los Alamos National Laboratory and then to take this public.
The plan is that this will be developed and then a plant will be built in New Mexico by 2012, where they will begin the production of 4,000 of these generators. Can this be the solution to the world’s power problems?
